Planning Your Visit

8 questions
Are you located inside the Trolley Barn Public Market?+

We're located in the adjoining building, but our massage studio has a separate entrance. You cannot access ALLEVIATE through the Trolley Barn Public Market.

Look for the red brick building to the left of the market entrance, above a'latte café. Enter through the black door on the left side of the building, walk upstairs, and continue to Suite 202, where you'll find our waiting room.

For photos and detailed directions, visit our Contact Us page.

Where can I park?+

There are several convenient parking options near our Quakertown studio!

Free parking is available behind our building and in the Freight Yard lot, which serves Trolley Barn and ALLEVIATE customers. Metered downtown parking is also available.

The nearby train station lot is private and may have event-related restrictions, so please check posted signs before considering it.

Our Contact Us page includes a parking map, photographs, and more detailed instructions to help you find your way.

Do you accept walk-ins or offer same-day appointments?+

We're open by appointment only, so we cannot accommodate walk-ins.

Same-day appointments may occasionally be available, depending on our therapists' schedules. You can check our online booking calendar or call or text us at 267-450-9707 to ask about openings.

Evenings and select Saturdays tend to fill up in advance, so we recommend booking early whenever possible.

Can I stop by to purchase a gift certificate?+

Absolutely! We offer traditional paper gift certificates that you can purchase at our Quakertown studio.

Because we're open by appointment only, please call or text 267-450-9707 before stopping by to make sure someone is available to help you.

Can't make it in? We can arrange to mail a paper certificate, or you can purchase an eGift card online for delivery by text or email.

Visit our Gift Certificates & eGift Cards page to explore your options.

What cleaning and health precautions do you follow?+

Your health, comfort, and safety are important to us.

We clean and sanitize our massage rooms and equipment between appointments. We also ask clients and therapists to reschedule when they are feeling unwell to help protect everyone visiting our studio.

If you're experiencing a fever, respiratory symptoms, or another potentially contagious illness, please contact us before your appointment so we can discuss rescheduling.

If you have a specific health concern or accommodation request, please let us know. We're happy to discuss how we can make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Is your massage studio wheelchair accessible?+

Unfortunately, our massage studio is located on the second floor of our building and is not wheelchair accessible.

To reach ALLEVIATE, you'll need to enter through the black door on the left side of the building and walk upstairs to our waiting room in Suite 202.

We understand that accessibility is important, and we want everyone to have the information they need before scheduling an appointment.

If you have mobility concerns or questions about getting to our studio, please call or text us at 267-450-9707. We're happy to discuss your situation and any accommodations we may be able to provide.

You can also visit our Contact Us page for photographs of our entrance, directions, and parking information.

How early should I arrive for my first massage?+

We recommend arriving a few minutes before your scheduled appointment so you have time to get settled.

When you arrive, you're welcome to relax in our waiting room, where we offer an assortment of teas and bottled water for your enjoyment.

We also have an electric massage chair available if you'd like to start relaxing and loosening up your muscles before your session begins!

If it's your first visit, your therapist will review your health information and discuss your goals before beginning your massage.

Our scheduling allows time for these conversations, but arriving a little early helps ensure you can enjoy your full appointment without feeling rushed.

We want your relaxing experience to begin the moment you walk through our door!

Is it okay to eat right before my massage?+

Yes, just keep it light. A normal meal a little while before your appointment is fine, but a large, heavy meal right before your session can feel uncomfortable once you are lying face down on the table.

A good rule of thumb is to give yourself about an hour after a big meal, and a small snack shortly before your appointment is perfectly fine. Drinking some water beforehand is a good idea too.

Booking, Payment & Policies

12 questions
What is your cancellation policy?+

We understand that plans can change! If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give us at least 24 hours' notice.

Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice are subject to the full appointment charge. No-call/no-shows are charged the full session amount.

If you are ill, please contact us before your appointment to reschedule. There is no fee for rescheduling because of illness; repeated last-minute illness cancellations are reviewed individually.

If something unexpected happens, please contact us as soon as possible at 267-450-9707.

Our full policies are available on our Terms & Conditions page.

What happens if I'm late for my appointment?+

We understand that unexpected delays happen!

If you're running late, please call or text us to let us know. Your therapist will do their best to accommodate you, but your session may need to end at its originally scheduled time so the next client's appointment isn't affected.

The full appointment price still applies, even when the session must be shortened because of a late arrival.

We recommend arriving a few minutes early so you can get settled and enjoy your entire massage.

I woke up feeling sick. Should I still come in?+

We appreciate you checking, but if you're feeling sick, it's best to reschedule your massage.

Massage therapy isn't a substitute for rest or medical care when you're ill, and coming in with a contagious illness could expose your therapist and other clients.

If you develop a fever, cold or flu symptoms, or another potentially contagious condition, please call or text us as soon as possible at 267-450-9707 so we can discuss your appointment.

We appreciate your help keeping our studio a healthy environment for everyone.

Will I receive a full 60 minutes of massage when I book a one-hour session?+

Yes! Our scheduling is designed to allow a full 60 minutes of hands-on massage when you book a 60-minute appointment.

We build time into our schedule for you to speak with your therapist, get comfortable, and prepare for your session.

To enjoy your full appointment, please arrive on time. Arriving late may reduce the amount of massage time available.

Do you offer couples massage?+

We don't currently offer couples massage as a regularly scheduled service.

However, depending on therapist availability and advance notice, we may be able to accommodate special requests for two people.

Please call or text 267-450-9707 or email info@alleviatemmt.com to discuss what you're looking for. We'll be happy to see what arrangements may be possible.

Do you accept health insurance?+

ALLEVIATE does not directly accept or bill health insurance for massage therapy services.

However, some insurance plans may offer reimbursement for qualifying massage therapy services. Coverage varies by provider and plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance company before scheduling if you intend to seek reimbursement.

We can provide session documentation to assist you with submitting a claim to your insurance provider, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Some Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plans may also cover eligible massage services, depending on your plan's requirements.

If you have questions about documentation, please contact us before your appointment.

What forms of payment do you accept?+

We accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, and ALLEVIATE gift cards.

Payment is due at the time of your appointment unless you've already paid online.

A credit card on file is required when booking an appointment, even if you plan to pay using another accepted method at your visit.

We also offer gift cards that can be purchased online or as traditional paper certificates.

Is tipping expected? How much should I tip my massage therapist?+

Gratuities are always appreciated, but they're not required.

If you would like to leave a tip, the amount is entirely up to you. Some clients prefer a flat amount, such as $20 for a one-hour massage, while others choose a percentage of the service price.

Tips can be left in cash or added when paying by credit card.

Above all, we want you to feel comfortable. Our goal is to provide excellent massage therapy and help you feel better, regardless of whether you leave a gratuity.

I'd like to receive massage more often, but I'm concerned about the cost. Are there any options?+

We understand that regular massage therapy is an investment, and we never want you to feel uncomfortable discussing your budget with us.

If you'd like to receive massage more frequently, please let us know. We can discuss your goals, available session lengths, and any options that may help you make massage therapy fit your budget.

We believe in finding an approach that makes sense for your needs without unnecessary pressure or commitments.

Why do I need a credit card on file if I'm paying with cash or a gift card?+

Great question, and we completely understand being cautious about entering a credit card online.

We require a credit card on file for everyone when scheduling, even if you plan to pay with cash, a check, or a gift card at your appointment.

Putting a card on file does not charge it. We do not charge it when you book, and we do not use it to pay for your massage if you choose another payment method when you come in. It is only there to reserve your time.

For your peace of mind, we never see your full card number and we never store it at the studio. When you book online, you enter it directly on our secure booking page and it is stored securely and encrypted by our payment processor. That is also why we cannot take a card number over text or phone. It is safer for you to enter it in the secure system yourself.

When you book, your therapist sets that time aside just for you and we hold it from everyone else, including clients on our waiting list. If the appointment is cancelled at the last minute or missed, we usually cannot fill that hour, and the therapist loses the income from a session they were prepared to give.

You will receive confirmation and reminder messages for your appointment, so you have time to contact us if you need to reschedule.

The only time the card on file could be charged is if an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice, or is missed without contacting us. In that case the full session charge in our cancellation policy applies, so the therapist can still be compensated for the reserved time they lost. It is the full price of the session you reserved, not an extra fee on top of it.

If you have questions, please call or text us at 267-450-9707. We're happy to explain! You can also review our full cancellation policy on our Terms & Conditions page.

I received an ALLEVIATE gift card. How do I use it?+

Lucky you! Someone thought you deserved a little relaxation!

Using your ALLEVIATE gift card is easy.

Simply schedule your preferred massage through our online booking system or contact us for help choosing a service.

When you arrive for your appointment, bring your traditional paper certificate or have your eGift card information available so we can apply it toward your massage.

If your appointment costs more than the remaining gift card balance, you can pay the difference using another accepted payment method.

Not sure how much is left on your card? Our Gift Certificates & eGift Cards page includes a convenient balance-checking option for supported eGift cards.

And here's some more good news: ALLEVIATE gift cards never expire!

We can't wait to help you enjoy your gift.

Can I choose which massage therapist I book with?+

Absolutely!

When scheduling online, you can view available appointments and select your preferred massage therapist.

If you've visited us before and would like to book with the same therapist again, you're more than welcome to do so!

Each of our therapists brings their own experience, training, and approach to massage therapy.

If you're looking for a particular technique, pressure preference, or specialized service, some therapists may be a better fit for your individual needs.

Not sure who to choose? Call or text us at 267-450-9707, and we'll be happy to help you find someone who matches your goals.

Whether it's your first massage or your fiftieth, we want you to feel comfortable with the person providing your care!

During Your Session

14 questions
What should I expect during my first massage therapy appointment?+

If this is your first visit to ALLEVIATE, welcome! We're happy to have you.

When you arrive, make yourself comfortable in our waiting room. We offer an assortment of teas and bottled water for you to enjoy while you wait.

We also have an electric massage chair available to help you relax, warm up, and loosen your muscles before your massage even begins. It's a great way to start unwinding!

Your massage therapist will greet you, review your health history, and discuss what you'd like to accomplish during your session.

Whether you're looking to relax, relieve muscle tension, or address a specific area of discomfort, we'll tailor your massage to your individual needs.

Your therapist will then explain how to get ready and step out of the room to give you privacy. Once you're comfortable on the massage table and covered with the provided sheet and blanket, your session will begin.

Throughout your massage, you're welcome to request adjustments to the pressure, positioning, temperature, or anything else that would make you more comfortable.

When your session is finished, your therapist will leave the room so you can get dressed at your own pace.

Our goal is to make your visit comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable from the moment you walk through our door!

Do I have to completely undress for my massage?+

Not at all! You should only undress to your personal comfort level.

Some clients prefer to remove all clothing, while others choose to leave their underwear or other garments on. Either option is perfectly fine.

Your therapist will use professional draping throughout your session, keeping you appropriately covered and uncovering only the area being worked on.

We'll also give you complete privacy while you get ready and get dressed afterward.

Most importantly, we want you to feel safe, respected, and comfortable during your entire visit.

What am I supposed to do during my massage?+

Your only job is to relax and enjoy your massage!

You don't need to help your therapist lift your arms or legs, hold certain positions, or do anything special unless your therapist asks.

If we need you to turn over or adjust your position, we'll guide you through it while maintaining appropriate draping and privacy.

And remember, you're always welcome to speak up if something feels uncomfortable or you'd like us to adjust the pressure.

This is your time, so make yourself comfortable!

Can I talk during my massage, or should I stay quiet?+

That's entirely up to you!

Some people enjoy chatting with their massage therapist, while others prefer to close their eyes, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Both are perfectly fine with us.

Your therapist may ask occasional questions about pressure, comfort, or areas of tension, but you're never expected to carry on a conversation.

Whether you want to chat, listen to music, or simply enjoy the silence, we'll follow your lead.

What if I'm ticklish during my massage?+

You're definitely not alone! Some areas of the body can be more sensitive or ticklish than others, especially if you're not used to receiving massages.

If something tickles, just let your therapist know. We can adjust the pressure, change techniques, or avoid that area altogether.

And if you happen to laugh, don't worry. We won't be offended!

Our goal is to help you relax, not make you uncomfortable.

What if I fall asleep, snore, or drool during my massage?+

Then we'd say you're probably feeling pretty relaxed!

It's completely normal for clients to drift off during a massage. Some people snore, some drool, and others wake themselves up wondering whether they fell asleep.

Trust us, we've seen it all, and there's absolutely no reason to feel embarrassed.

We're just happy you're comfortable enough to relax!

Is it normal to feel emotional during a massage?+

Yes, it happens, and there is nothing to be embarrassed about. As your body relaxes and tension lets go, emotions sometimes come with it, and a quiet tear or two during a session is more common than most people realize.

You do not need to apologize or explain. Your therapist will simply give you a moment, hand you a tissue if you would like one, and check whether you want to continue quietly, talk, or take a short pause. Your session stays a judgment free space either way.

Can I blow my nose, scratch an itch, or use the restroom during my massage?+

Absolutely!

If you need a tissue, have an itch, feel thirsty, or need to use the restroom, just let your therapist know.

We can pause the massage and help you get comfortable again when you're ready.

You never have to lie there feeling uncomfortable or worry that you're interrupting us.

Your comfort always comes first.

Do I need to shower before my massage?+

You don't need to shower immediately before your appointment, but we do ask that you arrive clean and practice good personal hygiene. Showering earlier in the day is appreciated.

We typically use massage creams that absorb well and don't leave you feeling overly oily, so you generally won't need to shower again immediately afterward unless you prefer to.

For certain services, such as Hot Stone Massage, we may use massage oil.

If you have sensitivities or preferences regarding massage products, just let your therapist know.

What if I forgot to shave before my massage?+

No problem whatsoever!

You never need to shave before a massage. Body hair is completely normal, and it won't interfere with our ability to provide a great massage.

We're focused on helping your muscles feel better, not whether you remembered to shave your legs!

Come exactly as you are.

What if lying face down is uncomfortable because of my body shape or breast size?+

We want everyone to feel comfortable on our massage tables, regardless of body shape or size.

If lying face down causes discomfort, including pressure on your chest or breasts, please let your therapist know.

We have supportive cushions and positioning options that can help make your session more comfortable. We can also adjust your position or provide portions of your massage while you're lying on your side.

There's no need to feel embarrassed about asking for accommodations.

Your comfort is an important part of receiving a great massage.

Do I have to listen to traditional massage music?+

Not if you'd prefer something else!

We typically play relaxing music to create a peaceful atmosphere, but we understand that everyone's idea of relaxation is different.

If you'd prefer a different style of music, a lower volume, or even silence, just ask.

We're happy to accommodate your preferences whenever possible.

After all, it's your massage!

Should I tell my therapist if I have a rash, wart, or other skin condition?+

Yes, please!

It's always important to let your massage therapist know about rashes, warts, open wounds, skin irritations, or other skin concerns before your session begins.

Some conditions may be contagious or require us to avoid certain areas. In other situations, we may recommend postponing your appointment until the condition has improved or you've received medical guidance.

Your therapist will discuss appropriate precautions with you while respecting your privacy.

Sharing this information helps us provide a safe, comfortable experience for both you and your therapist.

Is it okay to joke about inappropriate or sexual massage services?+

We appreciate a good sense of humor, but we take professional boundaries very seriously.

ALLEVIATE is a professional massage therapy practice, and sexual comments, requests, advances, inappropriate touching, or suggestive jokes directed toward our therapists are not acceptable.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct, and inappropriate behavior may result in the immediate termination of your session.

We ask all clients to treat our therapists with the same dignity and respect that we extend to everyone who visits our studio.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment.

After Your Session

5 questions
What should I do after receiving a massage?+

First, take your time getting up from the massage table! Your therapist will step out of the room to give you privacy while you get dressed.

After your massage, we recommend drinking water to stay comfortably hydrated and paying attention to how your body feels.

Some clients feel energized and ready to take on the day, while others prefer to relax and enjoy a quieter afternoon. Both are completely normal!

If your therapist worked on specific areas of tension, they may suggest gentle stretches, movement, or other self-care techniques to help you maintain your results between sessions.

Most importantly, listen to your body and enjoy that post-massage feeling!

Is it okay to exercise after a massage?+

It depends on the type of massage you received, the intensity of your workout, and how your body feels afterward.

After a gentle relaxation massage, many people feel comfortable returning to their normal activities, including exercise.

However, if you've received focused deep tissue or therapeutic massage, your muscles may feel temporarily tender. In those cases, you may prefer lighter activities, such as walking or gentle stretching, rather than jumping straight into an intense workout.

There's no universal rule that you must avoid exercise after every massage.

If you have a particularly demanding workout planned, let your therapist know. We can discuss your goals and help you decide how to approach your session.

Will I be sore after my massage?+

Not necessarily! Many clients leave their appointments feeling relaxed, comfortable, and less tense.

However, mild temporary soreness can sometimes occur, particularly after deep tissue massage or focused work on areas that have been tight or sensitive.

When soreness occurs, it typically improves within a day or two.

A massage doesn't need to hurt to be effective, and we never want you to feel that you have to tolerate excessive pressure to get results.

If something feels uncomfortable during your session, please speak up! Your therapist can adjust their techniques and pressure to suit your needs.

If you experience severe, unusual, or worsening pain afterward, seek medical guidance rather than assuming it's a normal reaction to massage.

How will I feel after my massage?+

Everyone responds to massage a little differently, and that's part of what makes each session unique!

Some clients leave feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, and more comfortable moving around. Others notice less muscle tension or an improved sense of well-being.

You might also feel sleepy, especially after a relaxing full-body massage. And depending on the techniques used, you could experience some temporary tenderness in areas that received focused attention.

We tailor each massage to your goals, whether you're looking to unwind, address specific muscle discomfort, or simply take some well-deserved time for yourself.

We hope you leave feeling better than when you arrived!

Can massage help me lose weight?+

Massage therapy doesn't directly cause meaningful weight loss, but it can be a wonderful addition to an overall wellness routine.

Massage may help you relax, manage stress, and feel more comfortable in your body. For some people, improving comfort and reducing muscle tension may also make it easier to stay active.

However, massage isn't a substitute for regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, or other appropriate weight-management strategies.

At ALLEVIATE, our goal isn't to promise weight loss. It's to help you feel more comfortable, move more easily, and support your overall well-being.

Feel Better. Move Better. Live Better!

Choosing Your Service

20 questions
Which type of massage is right for me?+

Great question! The best massage depends on what you're hoping to accomplish.

If you're looking to relax and unwind, Swedish Massage or Hot Stone Massage may be perfect for you.

If you're experiencing persistent muscle tension, tightness, or discomfort, Deep Tissue Massage might be a better fit.

For specific problem areas, sports-related concerns, or movement limitations, our Medical/Sports Massage services offer a more focused approach.

We also offer other specialized services, including Reflexology, Craniosacral Therapy, and Lymphatic Drainage Massage.

Not sure what to choose? That's okay! Call or text us at 267-450-9707, and we'll be happy to help you find the service that best fits your needs.

Can I ask my therapist to focus on just one area for my whole session?+

Absolutely. Many clients book a session for one area that is bothering them, like the neck and shoulders, the back, or the legs and feet, and focused work like that is a great use of a shorter session.

Just let your therapist know at the start of your appointment. Sometimes discomfort in one spot is connected to tension in a nearby area, so your therapist may ask whether you would like the surrounding area included as well, but the choice is always yours.

Should I book 60 or 90 minutes?+

A 90 minute session gives you both: full body work and extra time on the areas that need it most, without anything feeling rushed. If you have several areas bothering you, or you simply take a while to fully relax, the 90 minute session is usually the better fit. If you are not sure, start with 60 minutes and ask your therapist at your visit what they would recommend for next time.

What's the difference between Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage?+

Both are wonderful options, but they serve different purposes!

Swedish Massage focuses on relaxation, stress relief, and easing everyday muscle tension. It typically uses smooth, flowing strokes and can be performed with light, medium, or firm pressure.

Deep Tissue Massage uses slower, more focused techniques to work on areas of persistent muscle tightness or discomfort. It doesn't necessarily mean your entire massage will involve extremely firm pressure.

And here's something important: deeper pressure doesn't automatically mean a better massage!

We can adjust the pressure and techniques based on your preferences and what your body needs.

If you're unsure which service to book, give us a call. We're happy to help!

Can Deep Tissue Massage help with chronic back pain?+

It may! Deep Tissue Massage can sometimes help relieve muscle tension and improve comfort for people experiencing ongoing back discomfort.

However, chronic back pain isn't always caused by tight muscles, and applying more pressure isn't necessarily the answer.

At ALLEVIATE, we take an individualized approach. Your therapist will discuss your symptoms, areas of discomfort, and movement concerns before deciding which techniques may be appropriate.

Depending on your needs, your session might include Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, or gentler techniques.

Our goal is to help you feel more comfortable without creating unnecessary pain during your session.

Massage can be a helpful part of managing some types of back discomfort, but it isn't a guaranteed cure or a replacement for medical evaluation.

If your back pain is severe, unexplained, worsening, or accompanied by symptoms such as weakness, numbness, or changes in bladder or bowel function, please seek medical attention.

Want help choosing the right session? Call or text 267-450-9707. We'd love to help you explore your options.

Should I book a male massage therapist if I want deeper pressure?+

Not necessarily!

The amount of pressure a massage therapist can provide depends on their training, technique, body mechanics, and experience, not simply whether they're male or female.

Our therapists use different techniques to deliver effective pressure while maintaining your comfort.

If you enjoy very firm pressure or have a particular area that needs focused attention, let us know when booking.

We'll help you select a therapist and service that match your preferences.

And remember, you can always ask for more or less pressure during your massage!

Does massage have to hurt to be effective?+

Absolutely not!

One of the biggest misconceptions about massage therapy is that the more it hurts, the better it works.

Some therapeutic techniques may create mild discomfort when we're working on a sensitive or particularly tight area, but you should never feel that you need to endure significant pain.

Excessive pressure can cause you to tense up rather than relax, which isn't what we're trying to accomplish.

Your therapist will adjust the techniques and pressure to your comfort level.

If anything feels too intense, please speak up. We want you to enjoy your massage while working toward your goals.

Effective massage doesn't have to be painful.

How many massage sessions will I need?+

That depends on what brings you to ALLEVIATE!

If you're simply looking to relax and treat yourself, one massage may be exactly what you need.

If you're dealing with persistent muscle tension or an ongoing concern, you may benefit from several sessions over time.

Everyone responds differently, so there's no specific number of appointments that works for everyone.

After discussing your goals and completing your initial session, your therapist can offer recommendations based on your individual needs and how you respond to treatment.

We'll never pressure you into booking appointments you don't feel you need.

How often should I get a massage?+

There's no one-size-fits-all answer!

Some clients enjoy getting a massage once a month as part of their wellness routine. Others come less frequently, while clients working on specific areas of tension or discomfort may prefer more regular appointments.

Your ideal frequency depends on your goals, schedule, budget, and how your body responds.

During your visit, your therapist can discuss what might make sense for you.

Whether you visit weekly, monthly, or just when you need a little extra relaxation, we're always happy to see you!

How close to a race or a big event should I book a sports massage?+

Before an event, lighter is better. If you are scheduled for a race, a tournament, or a big game, book your pre-event session two or three days ahead, and ask for lighter, loosening work rather than deep tissue. Deep work in the day or two before an event can leave you temporarily sore, which is the last thing you want on event day.

After your event, give your body a day or two for the hardest effort soreness to settle, then a session focused on the muscles you used most can help you feel looser as you recover. Tell your therapist what event you did and where you feel it most, and they will pace the work to how your body feels that day.

Do you offer Graston Technique?+

We don't currently offer Graston Technique as a specifically advertised service.

However, we offer other approaches to addressing muscle and soft-tissue discomfort, including Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, and Trigger Point Therapy.

If you're interested in Graston Technique or another specific treatment, please contact us.

We'd be happy to discuss your goals, explain which services we offer, and help you determine whether one of our available treatments might be a good fit.

Does cupping therapy work?+

Cupping is a technique that uses suction against the skin rather than the downward pressure typically used in massage.

Some people find cupping helpful for temporary relief from muscle discomfort or tightness, although research on its effectiveness is still limited.

You may notice circular marks on your skin afterward. These are a common effect of the suction and generally fade over time. Cupping can also cause skin irritation and other side effects, so it isn't appropriate for everyone.

Despite what you may have heard, cupping doesn't pull toxins out of your body.

At ALLEVIATE, we offer Cupping Therapy in two ways:

  • Standalone Service: Book a dedicated Cupping Therapy appointment.
  • Massage Add-On: Add cupping to another massage service for additional focused work.

Both options are available through our online booking system!

Not sure which option is right for you? Call or text us at 267-450-9707, and we'll be happy to help you decide.

Do you offer Lymphatic Drainage Massage?+

Yes, we do!

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, specialized technique that uses light, rhythmic movements to encourage the natural movement of lymphatic fluid throughout the body.

Unlike Deep Tissue Massage, lymphatic drainage typically involves very light pressure and can be a wonderfully relaxing experience.

At ALLEVIATE, Desirée and Kourtne provide lymphatic drainage massage.

Some clients seek this service for general comfort and relaxation, while others are interested in addressing specific concerns involving swelling or fluid retention.

If you're recovering from surgery, experiencing unexplained swelling, or managing a medical condition affecting your lymphatic system, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before scheduling.

You can book Lymphatic Drainage Massage online or call or text us at 267-450-9707 if you have questions about the service or which therapist to choose.

Can massage help with TMJ or jaw discomfort?+

It may!

The temporomandibular joint, commonly called the TMJ, connects your jaw to your skull. When the joint or surrounding muscles aren't functioning comfortably, you may experience jaw tightness, facial discomfort, or headaches.

Massage techniques focused on the jaw, face, neck, and surrounding muscles may help relieve some of the muscular tension associated with temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

At ALLEVIATE, Michele offers specialized massage techniques that may be helpful for certain types of jaw-related muscle discomfort.

Every situation is different, and massage isn't a substitute for evaluation by a dentist or healthcare professional when needed.

If you're interested in this type of work, please contact us before booking so we can help you select the appropriate service and therapist.

Can massage help with tinnitus or ringing in the ears?+

Sometimes massage may help relieve muscle tension in the jaw, neck, or shoulders that contributes to discomfort associated with certain cases of tinnitus.

However, tinnitus has many possible causes, and massage is not an established treatment for ringing in the ears itself.

If you're experiencing tinnitus, especially if it's new, persistent, or worsening, we recommend speaking with a healthcare professional to identify possible causes. Sudden hearing loss accompanying tinnitus requires prompt medical attention.

If you're also experiencing jaw or neck tension, we'd be happy to discuss whether massage might help with that muscular discomfort.

Can massage help with headaches or migraines?+

Massage may provide relief for some people, particularly when headaches are associated with muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, scalp, or jaw.

For example, if you frequently experience tight shoulders or neck discomfort along with headaches, focused massage techniques may help you feel more comfortable.

However, headaches and migraines have many different causes. Massage doesn't work for everyone, and it isn't a guaranteed treatment or cure.

Your therapist can discuss the areas of tension you're experiencing and tailor your session accordingly.

If you experience frequent migraines, new or unusual headaches, or severe symptoms, we encourage you to speak with your healthcare provider.

Our goal is to help you feel better while respecting your individual health needs.

Do you provide abdominal or glute massage?+

Yes! Depending on your needs and the service you've booked, your therapist may recommend work on the abdominal or gluteal muscles.

These areas can sometimes contribute to muscle tension, movement restrictions, or discomfort elsewhere in the body.

However, these techniques are never performed without discussing them with you first.

Your therapist will explain why an area may benefit from treatment, ask for your consent, and maintain appropriate professional draping throughout the session.

If there are any areas you'd prefer us not to work on, simply let us know.

Your comfort, privacy, and personal boundaries are always respected.

What types of massage creams, oils, and aromatherapy products do you use?+

We primarily use professional massage creams that provide a smooth glide without leaving your skin feeling overly oily.

Depending on the service and therapist, we may also use massage oils. For example, Hot Stone Massage typically involves oil to allow the stones to move comfortably across the skin.

Aromatherapy may be available upon request for clients who enjoy essential oils.

If you have allergies, sensitive skin, fragrance sensitivities, or preferences regarding massage products, please tell your therapist before your session.

We can discuss available products and make appropriate adjustments whenever possible.

For Infant Massage, we use gentle products suitable for the service, and parents are welcome to discuss their preferred products with us.

Can I get a massage while pregnant?+

Yes! Prenatal Massage can be a wonderful way to relax and address some of the everyday muscle tension and discomfort that can accompany pregnancy.

Our Prenatal & Postpartum Massage services are designed with your changing body and comfort in mind.

Your therapist will discuss your stage of pregnancy, medical history, and any concerns before your appointment. We use appropriate positioning and supportive cushions to help keep you comfortable throughout your massage.

We currently ask clients to wait until at least eight weeks into pregnancy before scheduling prenatal massage. This is a studio scheduling precaution, not because massage has been shown to cause miscarriage.

If you're experiencing pregnancy complications or have been advised to limit certain activities, please consult your prenatal healthcare provider before booking.

You can select Prenatal & Postpartum Massage through our online booking system or contact us for assistance.

We're happy to help make this special time a little more comfortable!

I have acne or sensitive skin. Will massage products clog my pores?+

Not necessarily, but everyone's skin is different!

Some massage oils, creams, or fragranced products may irritate sensitive skin or contribute to breakouts in people who are prone to them.

We typically use professional massage creams rather than heavy oils for many of our services, and we generally don't need to apply massage products to your face.

If you have acne, sensitive skin, allergies, or concerns about specific ingredients, please let your therapist know before your massage.

We can discuss the products available and adjust your session whenever possible.

We want you to enjoy your massage without worrying about how your skin will react afterward!

Health & Safety

7 questions
Are your therapists licensed?+

Yes. Every massage therapist at ALLEVIATE holds a valid, current Pennsylvania massage therapy license. That is a firm requirement for us, and it is also a requirement under Pennsylvania law. Pennsylvania law does not allow a business to employ someone to provide massage therapy unless that person is licensed by the State Board of Massage Therapy, and we would not have it any other way.

Licensed means your therapist completed at least 600 hours of in-class education in a board approved massage therapy program, including 250 hours of massage therapy training, 175 hours of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology, 25 hours of professional ethics, and 150 hours in related courses. They also passed the national Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx).

Keeping that license takes ongoing work. Every two years, our therapists complete 24 hours of continuing education, including at least 16 hours in person, at least 4 hours in professional ethics, and training in child abuse recognition and reporting. They must also keep a current CPR certification to renew.

Our studio follows the rules at every level that applies to us. In addition to Pennsylvania state licensing, our establishment is inspected and licensed by the Bucks County Department of Health under Bucks County Ordinance 166, which covers sanitary and operating standards, and we follow all applicable Quakertown Borough business, zoning and building requirements.

When you book with us, you can be confident your care is in the hands of trained, licensed professionals working in an inspected studio.

Are your therapists insured?+

Yes. Every massage therapist at ALLEVIATE carries professional liability insurance. That is a firm requirement to provide services here.

Pennsylvania does not require liability insurance to hold a massage therapy license. We require it anyway, because training and a license are only part of protecting our clients.

Therapists are required to keep their professional liability coverage active while they provide services here, and to provide us with proof of that coverage. They also agree to give us notice if a policy is cancelled or changed, so coverage here does not quietly lapse.

We also recheck everyone every year. Once a year we verify that each therapist’s license is still active and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions on record, and that their insurance coverage is still current.

Licensed, insured, and practicing in a county inspected studio. That combination is part of how we make sure you are in professional hands from the moment you book.

When should I avoid getting a massage?+

Your health and safety are always our priority!

While massage therapy is beneficial for many people, there are certain situations when it's best to postpone your appointment or consult your healthcare provider first.

For example, you should contact us before your appointment if you:

  • Have a fever or potentially contagious illness.
  • Have a current or suspected blood clot.
  • Have an active skin infection, open wound, or contagious skin condition.
  • Have recently undergone surgery or are recovering from a significant injury.
  • Have a medical condition that may require special precautions.

A suspected blood clot requires prompt medical evaluation rather than massage.

Before your first appointment, we'll review your health history and discuss any conditions, injuries, or concerns that could affect your session.

If necessary, we may recommend obtaining medical clearance or postponing your massage until it's safe to proceed.

Not sure whether massage is appropriate for you? Call or text us at 267-450-9707 before booking. We're happy to discuss your concerns!

I recently had surgery or an injury. When is it okay to get a massage?+

It depends on what you had done and how far along your healing is, so when in doubt, ask us before you book. The general rule is to get cleared by your doctor or surgeon first, especially after a recent surgery, and to follow any restrictions they give you.

Your therapist will not work directly on an unhealed incision, a fresh injury, or an area your doctor has told you to leave alone. In many cases, once you are cleared, massage can be scheduled around the healing area, with positioning and pressure adjusted for your comfort. The more you tell us when you book, the better we can tell you whether to come in or wait a little longer.

Is it okay to use tobacco or marijuana before my massage?+

We ask clients to avoid using tobacco immediately before their appointments and not to arrive under the influence of marijuana or other intoxicating substances.

Cannabis can affect awareness, coordination, and your ability to communicate clearly about pressure, discomfort, or other concerns during your session.

It's important that you're able to comfortably participate in your massage and communicate with your therapist.

If you arrive visibly impaired, we may need to reschedule your appointment for everyone's safety.

Our goal is to maintain a safe, comfortable, and professional environment for every client and therapist.

Can I drink alcohol before or after a massage?+

We recommend avoiding alcohol before your massage appointment.

Alcohol can affect your judgment, coordination, and awareness of physical sensations, making it more difficult to communicate effectively with your therapist.

For your safety, we cannot provide massage therapy to someone who is intoxicated.

After your massage, we also recommend taking it easy and staying hydrated. If you're feeling lightheaded, tired, or unusually relaxed, it's best to avoid alcohol until you're feeling back to normal.

Massage doesn't cause alcohol to spread through your bloodstream faster, despite what you may have heard.

We want you to enjoy your massage and leave feeling comfortable, refreshed, and safe!

Can children and teenagers receive massage therapy?+

Yes! Massage therapy isn't just for adults.

At ALLEVIATE, we offer services for different age groups, including Infant Massage and massage therapy for younger clients when appropriate.

For clients under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present during the massage session and must sign and agree to our Terms & Conditions.

Our therapists will discuss the child's age, comfort level, health history, and the goals of the appointment before beginning.

We always adapt our approach to the individual and emphasize appropriate techniques, communication, comfort, and professional boundaries.

If you're interested in scheduling massage therapy for your child or teenager, please call or text us at 267-450-9707 so we can help you choose an appropriate service and therapist.
