Craniosacral therapy is the lightest-touch service we offer, and appointments are available in Quakertown with Desirée, who is certified in craniosacral therapy.
What a session is like
You stay fully clothed and rest on the massage table in a quiet room. Using a very light touch, usually no more than the weight of a coin resting on your skin, Desirée works mainly at the head, neck, and lower back, holding each position for a while before moving on. There is no cracking, no deep pressure, and no manipulation in the chiropractic sense. Most clients experience the session as profoundly restful; some fall asleep.
Clients book craniosacral therapy when they want bodywork but deep pressure is not right for them, when they are dealing with ongoing stress or tension, or when they simply prefer the gentlest possible approach.
A note on the evidence
Craniosacral therapy comes from osteopathic tradition, and its practitioners describe working with the subtle rhythm of the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. The scientific evidence for its specific health effects is limited, and we will not promise outcomes we cannot support. What we can tell you is what clients consistently report: deep relaxation, and a session that feels restorative. As with any therapy, if you have a medical condition or a recent head or neck injury, talk with your healthcare provider first.
